Asymmetrical Tilt Focus Chamonix 45F2

Asymmetrical Tilt Focus Chamonix 45F2
Displaying the rear tilt movement for asymmetrical focus on the Chamonix 45F2
This is a short one-minute video demonstrating the asymmetrical focus on a Chamonix 45F2 view camera.
The advantage of asymmetrical rear tilt focus is that it can speed up the process of finding the correct plane to achieve near and far focus simultaneously.

To set up the asymmetrical focus on the Chamonix 45F2 camera using the rear tilt, I do the following:
Ensure both rear locking pins are fully extended outwards
Tighten the rear standard into the vertical, neutral, position by adjusting large knurled knobs
Push both rear locking pins inwards
Loosen smaller silver knobs on the rear asymmetric sliding plate
The rear standard can now be tilted backward following the curve within the plate, to find your near focus

How to use Chamonix Asymmetrical Tilt
Focus on the far
Loosen knobs to perform asymmetrical tilt as described above
Carefully tilt the rear standard back toward you as it travels along the arc of the asymmetrical plate
Stop the rear tilt when the foreground comes into focus !"Lock the movement
Both near and far points should now be in focus

In my pdf download, large format camera movements, I describe focusing on the far, and then I tilt the back to bring the near into focus. Using a camera without this feature, you may need to make a series of fine adjustments between focusing on the far and tilting the rear for near focus.
